WHAT IS TRUANCY?
Trunacy is when a student, ages 6 to 18, fails to attend school as required by law, specifically when the student has 10 or more unexcused absences within a six month period. This could potentially lead to Truancy Court and the parent can also face fines for contributing to their child’s non-attendance. Students and parents may face other consequences as well like court mandated counseling or community service.
