TARDY POLICY
First period
begins promptly at 7:30 each school day. Each student is given two “free” tardies during a six week period prior to being subject to consequences. On the third tardy of a six week marking period, the student is assigned to ISS (in school suspension) for one hour. The student will serve this time during band/choir/p.e. in order to avoid missing instruction during a core academic class. This continues until the seventh tardy occurs and the student is issued a warning citation by the constable that is employed by the school district. Each of us has experienced mornings in which we were not able to arrive at school/work on time. Therefore, these two “free” tardies is a generous policy that allows for the occasional mistake. This also allows for a cumulative total of thirty-six tardies during the school year prior to the issuance of a citation.
When a student is tardy to class and enters the class during instruction, this interrupts the learning environment and stops the learning of the other students in the classroom. Also, your student is not receiving the instruction that he/she needs in order to be successful in the classroom.
It is the best interest of your student to have him/her in class on time each school day. Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance with this concern.
